Commercial flights arrive and depart daily at Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City. More than 200 freight carriers also serve the area, as well as mainline rail freight service and river transportation.

Employees who live at the Dunes will enjoy easy access to and from I-29 at all hours of the day using SD Exit #1, a state-of-the-art cloverleaf interchange system built in 1991. I-29 is the major north/south route in the United States. The Dunes is located approximately 10 miles from the Sioux City airport. The Dunes is less than 100 miles from I-80 (Omaha) and I-90 (Sioux Falls), the two main east/west routes in the United States and is less than 300 miles from the Twin Cities.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT (CID)
Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District operates under the direction of a board of supervisors that oversees services such as the maintenance of streets, sewer and water lines, and common areas.
